Our Vision
At Deep River, we believe that we are called to KNOW, GROW, GO
We want to KNOW God through study of His Word and through worship. We want to GROW in our relationship with God and each other. And we are called to GO serve others and go share the Good News of Jesus Christ!
In a very real sense, "we have no creed but Christ, no book but the Bible." The basis of our unity is our faith in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and our adherence to the Bible as the inspired Word of God for our teaching.
Unity: We seek a unity of understanding in the essentials of our faith, yet do not suggest that we must agree on all things pertaining to our walk in Christ. On many issues we have the freedom to disagree. We do ask, however, that all who accept and hold a leadership or teaching position at Deep River respect and teach these beliefs. Unity in the body depends upon harmony and mutual trust in the leadership.
Church Membership: We are an independent Christian Church. We have several requirements for church membership: You must be a believer in Jesus as the only Son of God, be willing to repent of sin and surrender to His lordship, to confess this faith before others, to obey Him in Christian baptism and continue in faithful discipleship. You are welcome to have a discussion with an Elder to clarify any questions.
Know, Grow, Go
The Biblical basis of our vision
Know 2 Cor. 5:16-20
"So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God."
Grow Heb. 5:12-6:1
"In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God."
Go Col. 1:10-12
"And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light."
